Description

Chamber Crusader is a roguelike, procedurally generated, arcade-style game. The player moves around in a small map shooting or swinging at enemies until they die. The key here is survival. How many points can you accumulate and how many rooms can you complete? The game is fast-paced, so a mouse and keyboard is recommended. Enemies will chase you quickly around the map so you will have to keep moving or else you will die. The map is considerably small and it will procedurally generate different layouts by randomising the location of blocks and enemies. The game also progressively gets more difficult the further you go.

The spawn location of each enemy will also be randomised. Players will enter a new room after defeating all the enemies in that room, they keep progressing until they die. The player gets points for every enemy defeated.

Procedural map generation adds replay ability and variety to the game. Each playthrough offers a new map configuration which the player may have never seen before. The random enemy placement adds unpredictability and forces players to constantly move or else they will quickly lose. The player will have to aim precisely with the mouse whilst moving at the same time in this fast-paced game.

Credits

Everything except for the in-game font was done by me. The font was done by Tiny Worlds and is a free asset on the Unity asset store.

Controls

  • WASD or arrow keys to move

  • Aim with the mouse/touchpad etc.

Features

  • Permadeath
    • If you die you lose all progress and do not gain any items or boosts to help you with the next run
  • Procedurally generated levels for near-infinite replay ability 
    • Blocks and enemies are randomly generated on the map
    • The map changes colour as the player progresses
  • Different combat options/fighting styles: ranged or melee.
  • Score and room counter for competitiveness and some people (like me) like numbers going up
  • Progressive difficulty 
    • Enemies become increasingly harder as the player progresses (More damage, speed)
  • Original sound track
  • 8-bit style for those who enjoy retro games
  • Original sprites and animations

Status

The game is currently in its beta stage with at least biweekly (once every two weeks) updates will be made to add a larger variety of enemies, weapons, music, different game modes and more! Feedback in the comments is highly appreciated and will be respectfully considered for each new update.

Really fun game, love the music! and perfectly matches the game. The game is challenging. You might have to wait a little before I can donate.
